National Girls & Women in Sport (NGWSD) and Field Hockey Event

The RSHOF hosted a combined NGWSD celebration with a field hockey clinic for Grades

K-6 on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the RFA Stadium Support Field. Approximately 68 young girls had an opportunity to learn about the sport of field hockey, as the day was a celebration of National Girls & Women in Sport.

The celebration featured Syracuse University's Head Field Hockey Coach Lynn Farquhar, who began at SU in 2022 after serving as an Assistant Coach to Ange Bradley who retired following 14 seasons with the Syracuse Orange women.

A fun day was had all around by everyone who attended from athletes to parents, to coaches, and more. Each athlete received a "goodie" bag from the Rome Sports Hall of Fame to remember this big day! A special thank you to RFA Head Coach Mackenzie Welter and Assistant RFA Coach Kelly Reese for planning and organizing the day's activities.

Here are a few photos of the day:

A special thank you to all of the volunteers that helped out that day!
