Honors & Awards Bestowed By The Rome Sports Hall of Fame
The RSHF&M's highest honor recognizing a lifetime of excellence. Only a few people are inducted each calendar year and they are given a plaque that hangs inside the Rome Sports Hall of Fame.
Frank Clark Service Award
This award is named in memory of Frank Clark, the longtime board member of the Hall of Fame who was active in numerous Rome community organizations. It recognizes those individuals who have continuously volunteered within the community for the benefit of our students and residents.
This is an award given to an outstanding team. This award is sponsored by Ellie Bruce, a longtime Rome Sports Hall of Fame board member.
These $500 scholarships are given in memory of the late Ruth Demers, longtime Hall of Fame board member. There are two awards, both given out by the RFA Physical Education Department at this time. Currently, one goes to a senior male and one to a senior female athlete at RFA, who demonstrates outstanding leadership and dedication; qualities that Ruth exhibited her entire lifetime.
This award is named in honor of longtime Rome Free Academy coach and athletic director who was killed when he was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver, while training for a marathon. They are athletes whose lives were cut short. Individuals honored by the Hall of Fame are memorialized with plaques housed inside a glass casing.
This award is given annually to adult and High School athletes in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Rome athletics. It includes several of our current and former RFA High School athletes and coaches. Outstanding teams are also recognized.
Youth receptions are held two times a year (spring and fall). This is an award that recognizes outstanding youth programs and youth teams.
This is an annual breakfast open to any RCSD female student. It is held annually to honor the many ways that sports push girls and women to achieve excellence and realize their boundless potential. The Women’s Sports Foundation applauds the vital role played by individuals and organizations championing girls and women in sports: advocates seeking to protect Title IX and advance gender equity, athletes using their powerful platform to inspire greatness, and coaches working daily to unlock girl’s limitless capabilities.
